My goal as your counselor is to create a supportive environment where you can explore your emotional needs and overcome barriers that limit your full potential. I work with individuals and couples, and take a multidimensional and open-minded approach to client wellness. With this in mind I am respectfully considerate of each client's experience of the world as it pertains to areas such as racial and cultural background, family traditions, spiritual beliefs, sexual orientation/identity, and gender expression. My specialties include working within the LGBTQ community and those with alternative lifestyles.
I view therapy as a tool that can help you discover and learn about previous helpful ways that you have learned to cope with challenging circumstances. Together we can assess whether those coping skills are still valuable to you. If not, I can assist you in developing insight into acquiring new ways of coping with feelings, and to learn new ways of thinking and behaving in response to those feelings that are more satisfying and affirming to you.
Together we will focus on your resiliency, strengths, and goals in order to identify feelings and develop new coping strategies for managing current situations. In this respect, therapy is a journey that you navigate while I offer support and guidance.
